Don’t Forget to Market

Many companies have had to cut back marketing and advertising projects during tough economic times. However; if you completely forget about marketing and advertising efforts, then you can hinder your company’s image and lose public awareness.

Marketing and advertising projects don’t have to be costly. There are a variety of lost-cost activities that sometimes get overlooked in marketing campaigns. Maintain your company’s image by focusing on some simple but effective marketing/advertising activities.

Blog and use other forms of free social media. If you aren’t blogging already, now is the perfect time to start. If you do not have the time or interest to blog, then create an account just to comment on other bloggers’ posts. This will still help to keep your company’s name out there. Even popular networks like Facebook, YouTube and Del.i.cious are becoming a popular means for companies to reach out to their consumers.

Write and distribute press releases that are newsworthy and send them to newspapers, magazines and television stations. Press releases are a great way to get free access to consumers. Make sure the lead sentence catches the reader’s attention.

Volunteer. Have your company choose a specific cause or event to volunteer at. Donate to a charity or sponsor or participate in a local community event. This will help maintain a positive company image.

Offer promotional materials. Create interest in your company by offering coupons and other promotional products. Hold drawings for a weekly prize (t-shirt, notepad, etc. with your company logo on it) to help spread the word, or give away gifts to loyal clients to show your appreciation for their business.
